Irene Birungi Mugisha Atenyi, The CEO: Presidential CEO Forum, Former Principal Private Secretary to His Excellence the President of Uganda.
Birungi serves in several capacities as a mother, sister, employee, employer, and wife. Her dedicated faith in God serves as a pillar in her journey.
She believes that we are all purposed to be someone who makes a difference and make an impact that will forever be one’s footprint. She is a seasoned journalist and broadcaster who is nurturing her passion to make a change wherever she is destined.
A publisher in the dailies and as a Civil Servant, serving her country is a privilege and it is a position of influence that has inspired her school of thought in servant leadership.
She is a Co-Founder and Director to a successful PR & Communications Firm in Uganda that boasts of 14+ years of existence providing loyal customer service.
She is the Founder of the Presidential CEO Forum an initiative that links the private sector with government. Her years of continued service under different backgrounds from the private sector to the public sector shaped her thought process into an excellent hard-working personality with an agenda to thrive using her experience as a strategist and lobbyist.
As an author of the book titled – The CEO in You a Change Maker, sharing her journey into Excellency: how passion drives productivity. Irene, in her line of career, prides herself on strategically transforming organizations through customized corporate solutions.
She is driven by what she does as a leader, with humility, intentional living, integrity, and trade-offs.
Birungi Irene a Ugandan married to Maurice Mugisha Herbert and a mother to three wonderful children.
Early Life and Education
Born in 1973, Irene’s passion for storytelling and leadership emerged early. She holds an MBA from Amity University, Gurgaon, which has fueled her diverse career in journalism, PR, and public service.
Professional Journey
Irene started as a news anchor at WBS Television, quickly rising to become the first female TV manager at UBC. Later, she joined CNBC Africa, leading editorial and production for the Uganda and Rwanda bureaus.
As the founder of All Round Consult, a top PR and media consultancy in Kampala, she excels in strategic communication, guiding brands through Uganda’s media landscape.
Public Service and Leadership
Since 2017, Irene has served as Private Secretary for Administration in the Office of the President, bridging the public-private sector gap and leading initiatives like the Presidential CEO Forum.
Authorship and Thought Leadership
Irene’s book, “The CEO in You,” offers leadership strategies and personal growth insights. She regularly contributes to major Ugandan publications, sharing her expertise on leadership and business.
Personal Life
Irene is married to Maurice Mugisha, Deputy Managing Director of UBC, and they have three children. She exemplifies the balance between family, career, and community.
